Mandato Huang
Nascido em Taiwan, criado na África do Sul e actualmente radicado em Portugal, Allen Huang é, por definição, um cidadão do mundo.
Engenheiro de dados de profissão, encontrou no karting um escape que rapidamente deixou de ser apenas recreativo. Sob a orientação de Domingos Machado, tornou-se evidente que o que começara como hobby escondia um talento natural para a modalidade.
“Larger than life” é talvez a expressão que melhor o descreve. Sempre bem disposto, dono de uma gargalhada contagiante e de um sentido de humor apurado, Allen vive tudo com intensidade — e faz questão de o registar. Entre a constante actividade nas redes sociais e o seu canal de YouTube “Europe in a Tesla”, filmar é quase tão natural quanto acelerar.
O ponto de partida para este projecto surgiu em conversa, na pista. A vontade era clara: honrar as origens taiwanesas sem entrar em territórios políticos. A solução encontrou-se na história — mais concretamente na bandeira de Taiwan do final do século XIX e nos emblemáticos “Formosa Tigers”.
A composição explora deliberadamente a assimetria. Tal como os tigres que a inspiram — semelhantes à primeira vista, mas profundamente distintos — também o capacete celebra a diferença como valor. As cores históricas reforçam essa ligação identitária, enquanto o detalhe minucioso na execução dos felinos confere carácter e intensidade ao conjunto.
O resultado é uma peça que não procura consenso, mas afirmação. Diferente. Irreverente. Exactamente como o Allen.
A base deste trabalho foi o Bell GP3.
O fato de competição patente nas fotografias foi igualmente desenhado pela Aerovicta, explorando os mesmos temas e linguagem visual.
Born in Taiwan, raised in South Africa, and now living in Portugal, Allen Huang is, in every sense, a global citizen.
A Data Engineer by profession, he discovered karting as a hobby — only to realise, under the guidance of Domingos Machado, that what began as leisure concealed genuine natural talent.
“Larger than life” describes him well. Always in high spirits, armed with a fantastic sense of humour and a deep, contagious laugh, Allen experiences everything at full throttle — and makes sure to document it. Constantly active on social media and behind the lens of his YouTube channel “Europe in a Tesla,” filming is as instinctive to him as racing.
This project emerged naturally, through conversation at the track. The brief was clear: honour his Taiwanese heritage without making a political statement. The answer lay in history — specifically, the late 19th-century Taiwanese flag and its iconic “Formosa Tigers.”
The design deliberately embraces asymmetry. Like the tigers themselves — seemingly alike yet profoundly different — the helmet celebrates individuality as a defining value. The historical national colours reinforce that identity, while the extreme level of detail in the tigers brings intensity and character to the overall composition.
The result is not a piece that seeks neutrality, but distinction. Different. Irreverent. Entirely Allen.
